vMeet privacy policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026. Operator: Atroesx. Questions: use the Support tab on the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
This policy covers the vMeet Chrome extension and this website (vmeet.atroesx.com). vMeet is a Chrome extension that records the Google Meet or Microsoft Teams (web) call in the tab you choose, saves the recording where you tell it to, and turns it into a transcript, summary and action list using Google Gemini. vMeet has no servers of its own. We do not receive, store or see your recordings, transcripts, keys or settings.
What vMeet handles
- Call audio and video from the tab you start recording, and your microphone. While recording, the data is held in your browser's private storage on your computer, then saved to the folder (or Google Drive folder) you chose.
- Meeting details: the meeting title, platform and the participant names shown on the call page. These are used to name files, label speakers and write the transcript.
- Your Gemini API key, which you paste in. It is stored on your device, encrypted, and used only to call Google's Gemini service.
- Settings and an activity log (what vMeet did and when, which may include meeting titles). These stay on your device. You can clear the log in settings.
- An optional settings backup file. If you press "Back up now", vMeet saves your settings and recent-meetings list as a small file in your chosen save location (folder or Drive). It does not include your Gemini key. Restoring reads a file you choose.
- An optional chat notice. If you turn it on, vMeet types the message you wrote into the call's chat when you start recording. It is off by default, and the message goes only to the call you are in.
- A Google sign-in token, only if you choose to save to Google Drive. vMeet asks only for the "drive.file" permission, which lets it see and manage only the files it creates itself.
Where data goes
- Google Gemini. To make the transcript, vMeet uploads the call audio (the other participants' audio and your microphone audio, as separate files) to Google's Gemini API using your own API key, together with the meeting title and participant names. vMeet asks Gemini to delete the uploaded audio once the transcript is made. How Google handles that data depends on your Google plan and Google's terms; see ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms.
- Google Drive, only if you choose it: the video and transcript are uploaded to a folder vMeet creates in your Drive.
- Your computer. Files are saved to the folder you pick. The optional "Open save folder" helper runs on your computer, receives only the folder address, and uses no network.
We do not sell or share your data, do not use it for advertising, creditworthiness or lending, and do not run analytics or tracking. No person at vMeet reads your data, because it never reaches us.
Google user data
vMeet's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Drive access is used only to save the files you ask vMeet to save.
This website
This website is static. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers. Your host may keep standard server logs.
Your choices and deletion
- Recordings are never deleted automatically. You delete the files yourself, in your folder or in Drive.
- Removing the extension deletes its settings, key, log and any unsent recordings held in browser storage. You can revoke Drive access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Recording other people
vMeet does not tell other participants that you are recording. You are responsible for telling them and for following the law and your organisation's rules where you and they are located. vMeet will not record until you have accepted this in settings.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the date above changes and the extension's listing will say so. Questions: use the Support tab on the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
